The library hold books, records and other ephemeral material covering London's history. The library also holds material specific to the diocese of London, St. Paul's Cathedral archives, the City wards and parishes and the City of London livery company records. Parish registers, marriage licences and probate records are held at the London Metropolitan Archives. Estate and family papers and numerous city foundation records are also held at the library as well as the Lloyd's of London archives and the Stock Exchange registers. The library holds an extensive amount of trade directories covering England and other professional directories. The Library publishes 'A Guide to the Genealogical Sources in the Guildhall Library'. Please note that the Guildhall Library Manuscripts Section closed in 2007 with the library's manuscripts and other written material transferred to the London Metropolitan Archives.
